The LAG is a leg that Leads you to the WIG

Yesterday and today, our local ministry team is meeting to pray and seek the Lord afresh with fervent discussions (even "healthy" arguments) and pounding of the table, and at times with tears, to do what God is calling us to. We're putting together our plans for the upcoming year. We are committed to the culture changes taking place in our overal ministry and asking the Lord to lead us to be in alignment with the heart and mission of our movement. We are pumped to see what God is doing! Using a GREAT PLANNING tool is really forcing our team to simplify, focus and to do what is most important. All in the context of our organization's values. I love the simple and profound way to be accountable to each other in executing whatever plans we all agree upon, and to actually see our plans implemented.
We're using a tool put out by the FranklinCovey folks, that leads us through identifying Wildly Important Goals (WIGS), and then sub-goals and action steps: lags and leads... it's a lot of acronyms, and we've been confusing ourselves at times. But the concept is a good one: have fewer goals and really go after 'em, and you'll be more likely to accomplish your objectives.
One of my fellow staff teammates reminded us you'll rarely accomplish all you think you can do in six months, but you'll surprise yourself at all that you can accomplish in five years.
