Firsthand Reports

We feel so thankful for the partnership of so many that give toward our ministry, and pray for us and for our inner city church partners as we reach the needy with the Good News of life in Jesus!
Below is just a small smattering of the comments students said about their day delivering Holiday Care Boxes in our urban neighborhoods:

Sahr and his wife, Finda, came from Liberia 5 years ago. They lived through war and saw many terrible things. They know Jesus, but are not fully assured in their salvation. We’re praying for Finda as she is pregnant and sick. – UW-Madison student
One young man said he was 50% sure he would go to heaven. We responded with “What if we told you we know how you can make that 100%?” He responded with a huge smile and said, “Today would be the best day of my life!” – Dan, MSOE
Maria was incredible. She invited us into her home. We prayed that she could find fellowship in Spanish. The next door we knocked on was a Latina pastor, Mary! Praise God! – Tina, UW-Milwaukee
Most of the people we met were already Christians. I’d say it was more of an enlightening experience for me than them. It really got me out of a rut. –Scott, Century College
Tyra is recovering from an addiction and is found hopeful for her future with Jesus. She informed us that our visit truly turned her day around; for it was a hard day. She was very enthusiastic to bring God into her life and embraced what we shared. She rejoiced in the Lord’s name and it was glorious to witness. (Tyra prayed to receive Christ) – Kirsten, Bry, Emma, Tweeten, Ryan, UW-Stevens Point
We talked with Anne for almost an hour and a half. Actually she did most of the talking. It was apparent that she needed people who would just take the time to listen and care. She talked about growing up in a Catholic school, her squirrel problem in her attic, losing her dad to cancer, and her church search. She was thankful for the food. We prayed with her.
Layla is from Egypt and she genuinely wanted Christ in her life after we shared the gospel presentation with her. She called us a “God send” and we got her connected with the church and gave her a Bible (told her to read the Gospel of John). - Patrick, UW-LaCrosse
God had led us to Ron. He came to the door and yelled to us. We explained how we had food and wanted to chat. He refused food and welcomed conversation. We shared the gospel with him and then he received our food offering. The best part was that Ron’s house had been broken into earlier that day and he was in need of prayer. God had brought us right where we were needed. Praise God! -Jennifer, UW-Parkside
Shawntell had a very deep conversation with us. She told us all about her life struggles and asked us to pray for her. We prayed together and Shawntell started to cry. She thanked us profusely and asked us to the give the church her contact info. We did. Shawntell would like prayer – she needs God to help her overcome alcoholism. –Ashlinn, Aaron, Paige & Tim, SMSU
We visited with a Buddhist couple and they were very open to hearing the gospel – and they even gave us a box of chocolate truffles in exchange for the food. –Karen and Ellie, UW-Eau Claire/Bethel
We were able to speak to Kyanna and Muechay who were refugees from Thailand. They did not speak English but when we tried to share with them they called a friend who spoke English and their language. He is a Christian and agreed to come over to their house to share the Gospel with them tomorrow! (We left a gospel presentation booklet for him). – Kwami and Cassie, LaCrosse
