I currently have 3 good friends that are pregnant, and many more than recently gave birth or adopted. One fun thing is to find out what name they are choosing for their child, and why they're choosing it. Some like the sound of a name, some like it's meaning, some chose a name after a loved one.
Recently, our ministry chose to unveil its upcoming name change. Change is hard, even good change. So, I thought I'd include a little more explanation for any one who is interested in some of the "why" behind the decision, especially for those friends who have concerns that the word Christ is no longer in our name:
We believe that our mission is to reach a lost world and win it for Christ. Our ministry is still, with complete conviction and passion, representing Christ and Him alone. The name change was not a political change—it was done in order to have more opportunities to reach the lost.
In this country, the name “cru” has been used with our ministry on college campuses for decades. We understand why those who are saved want the name of Christ in and on anything they see. However, our goal is to approach those who don't know Christ and introduce them to Him by way of relationship and ministry events. We ask that your prayers will be with us as we seek the lost and equip them to go and tell others.
